Set a passcode
This is what your recovery phrase is encrypted under, so pick something you have not used elsewhere. Face ID or Touch ID rides on top of it.

Write down twelve words
On paper, in order. Aura makes you confirm a few of them back, because a phrase you have not actually recorded is not a backup.

Sixty-nine networks are already derived and waiting. Receive to any of them, or add a watch-only address to look around first.
Already have a phrase?
Choose Restore instead of Create. Type your twelve or twenty-four words and Aura derives every address from them using each chain's registered path — the same addresses any other standards-compliant wallet would give you. Nothing is imported to a server, and your old wallet keeps working; a phrase can be open in two places at once.

Wallet impersonation is the most common attack in this category. Install only from the App Store or Google Play, confirm the publisher reads Aura, and be suspicious of any link that arrives in a message. This site will never ask you for a recovery phrase, and no legitimate download will either.
